SUN ROAD (Five Symphonic Dances for Orchestra) was commissioned by the Bozeman Symphony in December 2003, commemorating Matthew Savery’s tenure as music director for that orchestra. It is a set of pieces incorporating imagery and feelings from my experiences in Japan over the last three years. The 40-minute composition musically ties together all the works previously commissioned by Matthew Savery and the Bozeman and the Butte Symphony Orchestras – Karnak for orchestra (1996), and …in the Mines of Desire for choir and orchestra (2000). |
